Well it's not very exciting, but it has been just under a month since I last posted and I feel empty without blog.co.uk . Which is a lie but I wanted to sound...you know, deep.
There have been gigs. But only two of them, both Christmas-themed and both in Carling Academy *shudders*. The first was for CSS, which I have to say was fantastic, and as cheesy as it sounds I had a really great time. Metronomy were the support band, who I'd only read about the day before the show, but had tshirts with push-lights on and some really great songs. Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong (dear lord) were supposed to be there to, but were nowhere to be seen. Which I was not disappointed about at all. CSS were so good typing words fails me, it really does. They came on stage dressed as presents, and kept saying "this is our last song", which is always fun when you find out they can't stop lying.
The second gig was (dun dun dunnn) The Wombats. Yes, yes. I know. The Wombats. Not exactly the most experimental and exciting band to ever have formed. But it was a free show thanks to my cousin (the drummer) who is a right indie kid and took me with him. For starters it was an afternoon, all-ages gig. Not that I'm against that, I think it's a really good thing, but nearly all of my school turned up because they could run riot to some dull music. Couldn't have BEEN any more colder, and having to wait outside for an hour I find myself having to quote Kaiser Chiefs in saying "no need for I.D.'s with those dresses". Cos they were hardly wearing them. And they had me surrounded. I just don't like people, generally. When we got in the place was packed, the support bands (Elle S'appelle and Go Faster) were awful and the crowd was really aggressive. I don't care if I'm at a show and everyone's beating the shit out of each other if the music is good, because it's the energy coming off the stage that makes that happen. So needless to say there was no excuse. I was BORED. The Wombats were pretty good, but I don't think they made up for it.
I broke up from school the day after the CSS gig, which was good then but depressing now since I am back on MONDAY.
There was also Christmas. Not that I know what to say about it. So I'm going to move onto...
...New Year. I don't really know what to say about this either, except this year Liverpool is Capital of Culture. Whatever that means. More plays or something.
